Simultaneous Interpreting

Interpreters work in a translation booth in pairs or in small groups of three rendering the message of the speaker to the target language continuously at the same time someone is speaking. Simultaneous interpreting is a multitasking process. Linguistic and cognitive manipulation skills underlie the complex process of simultaneous interpreting

Whispered Interpreting

A method of working whereby the interpreter is seated next to one or two participants and whispers to them a translation of what the speaker is saying. The method is normally chosen when the number of listeners requiring interpretation is extremely limited.

Consecutive Interpreting

Interpreting comes after the speaker’s statements. The interpreter renders the interpretation after the speaker has stopped speaking. During consecutive interpreting, the interpreter takes notes to assist him/her in rendering the interpretation. Synthesis, analysis and good memory skills are a sine qua non prerequisite in consecutive interpreting.
